NOTE: Due to Covid-19, all Block Parties must practice physical distancing and proper hand washing techniques, and must follow provincial guidelines.

A neighbourhood block party is the perfect opportunity for you and your family to make new friends, plan activities, and feel more connected to your community. For those interested, the City of Winkler is happy to allow block parties on selected residential streets.  We ask you to complete an application form even if you choose to have your block party in a location other than your street.

To help make your block party a success please note the following:

Locations: The best locations to host a block party are cul-de-sacs, parks and green spaces or back yards.  Local roadway closures may be permitted. Road Closure permit approvals are subject to safety and your neighbours' approval. As your safety is our priority, some road closure requests may not be accommodated but we will do our best to provide other options. We ask you to complete an application form even if you choose to have your block party in a location other than your street.

You can download and print the APPLICATION FORM HERE.(Includes planning guide and printable invitations)

    * applications must be submitted to City of Winkler administration offices at 185 Main Street.

Once you book your block party:

  • We will contact you to let you know if your application has been approved.

  • Upon road closure permit approval, the organizer of the block party can sign out barricades at the City of Winkler Public Works Building, by emailing publicworks@cityofwinkler.ca. The barricades will be available to be picked up during business hours Monday to Friday (8:30 a.m. - 3:00p.m.). If your event is on the weekend you can pick the barricades up on the Friday and return them on the following Monday.

Thank you to Winkler Co-op for supporting the Block Party program and for their community spirit!
