Being a Good Neighbour

  • Lawns

    • To keep our community looking its best, please maintain your yard by mowing the grass to a reasonable height, raking and disposing of leaves regularly, keeping your yard neat and free of rubbish, and trimming overgrown trees and hedges.   By-Law No. 2191-17

  • Snow Clearing

    • Please do not store snow on boulevards, as the snow clearing team needs these areas for snow storage. Additionally, avoid storing snow on streets or sidewalks. Instead, store snow on your private property.

  • Derelict Vehicles

    • A derelict vehicle is defined as any vehicle that is not in operating condition or is not licensed. Derelict vehicles cannot be stored in your yard or driveway and must be kept within a lawfully existing structure.   By-Law No. 2189-17

  • Garbage, Recycling, and Compost

  • Parking
    • You can park on your driveway or in designated areas on the road. However, parking on grass or on the city boulevard is not allowed.   By-Law No. 2283-22
  • Sump Pumps

    • To protect property, public safety, and our municipal infrastructure, water from sump pumps must never be discharged:

      • Onto neighboring properties

      • Into the city’s sanitary sewer system

      • Onto roads or sidewalks during winter, where it can create dangerous icy conditions

    • Why Can’t I Drain Water from My Sump Pump into a Floor Drain?

      • Water collected by your weeping tile and directed to your sump pit should not enter the sewer system for two important reasons:

        1. Risk of Basement Flooding
Pumping weeping tile water into the sewer increases the chance of sewer backups and basement flooding for you and your neighbors. The sewer system is designed for normal wastewater flows—not large volumes of clean groundwater.

        2. Unnecessary Costs
Sump pump water is clean and does not need treatment. When it enters the wastewater system, it adds extra strain on equipment and may require costly upgrades to increase capacity. These costs are recovered through higher sewer rates on your quarterly utility bill.   By-Law No. 1974-09

Complaints - How to Submit

    • within three (3) meters of community mailboxes.

    • within three (3) meters from the point of the curb or edge of the roadway immediately opposite of a fire hydrant.
