Transit Tips

  • To get the group booking discount, all passengers must be going from the same place and only be booked by one person.
  • The mobile application gives notifications but you can view the shuttles location once you are the next pick-up after you press “begin trip” on the trip window.
  • Trips can be booked up to 7 days in advance. If you need a return trip try to book both trips at once, ensuring a ride home. You can always cancel a ride for free but if the shuttle is fully booked later in the day, you may need to find alternative transportation options to return home.
  • Drivers will help people that visibly need help at the shuttle but will not assist riders to or from a person’s door.

  • The cash fare is exact cash only. If a return trip is booked, separate payment is required per trip.
  • Remember to be flexible, give yourself extra time.

Winkler On-Demand Transit FAQ's

Winkler On-Demand Transit is a flexible public transportation service that allows you to book rides through a mobile app, similar to ride-sharing services, but within the Winkler area.  This service is offered on a trial basis to understand the needs of the community.  This service will only operate within the City limits of Winkler and Boundary Trails Health Centre.

The public transportation pilot will begin with one operating vehicle that has space for a total of 8 passengers including one wheelchair accessible space.   In the event that the shuttle needs maintenance, a backup shuttle capable of 6 total passengers, with space for a foldable wheelchair in the back will be utilized.

Download the Blaise Transit app, enter your pickup and drop-off locations, your preferred trip times and a shuttle will be dispatched to you. The app provides estimated wait times and a notification when the shuttle is nearby. The app can be downloaded on both IOS and Android devices. The service can also be booked by using the website link: https://www.blaisetransit.com or Calling 431-451-4900 to book.

The service operates within the city of Winkler and to/from the Boundary Trails Health Centre for non-emergency transport. It will transport from door to door as long as the pickup and drop off locations are safe.

Winkler On-Demand transit drivers will do their best to pick up and drop off as close to the requested locations as possible. In the event that the area  chosen is not deemed safe by the driver, they will stop as close as possible. The vehicle will not make pick up and drop offs in dangerous locations (ie. Highways, low visibility areas, narrow driveways which would require backing out, etc).

Winkler On-Demand Transit operates from 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm Saturdays. There is no Service Sundays or Holidays. Rides can be booked after hours using the Blaise app or the Website.

The cost per one way ride is $5 per booking. You can book more than one person into the same pickup request with the same pickup/drop off location at no extra cost.

You can book up to 15 minutes before your desired departure time and you will receive the earliest pickup time available based on current shuttle demand and location. You can also book up to 7 days in advance.

Wait times vary based on demand, but the app will provide an estimated pickup time along with earliest departure times and latest arrival times when you request a ride. You can also track the vehicle in real time when it is close to your pickup time.

You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store by searching for “Blaise Transit.”

The minimum age for an unaccompanied rider is 13.  Riders under 13 must be accompanied by a rider over 13.

The driver will only wait for 1 minute at your pickup location. If you don’t show up, the trip will be canceled.

The mobile app and website give live up to date information on the location and estimated arrival time of the vehicle, if the vehicle is running late you will be notified and a new estimated time of arrival will be given. For rides that were booked by telephone, you will receive a call with the new arrival information. A late ride is when the vehicle has not arrived within 15 minutes of the latest provided estimate.

The driver will continue to the next pickup and the no-show will be documented and reviewed. No-shows are detrimental to the level of service provided. Recurring no-shows may result in a temporary suspension of service to the user.
